It's time to share some more inspiring work from another one of our awesome customers!

Today we are featuring the breathtaking and artful work of Basil Hashmi, from Bangalore, India.

I had the opportunity to interview Basil for the Photo Collective Membership (coincidentally, not one but TWO students named him as an inspiration for their work) and he is just as lovely in person as his work is beautiful.

In Basil's words:

"As a software engineer by profession and a photography enthusiast for over two decades, I’ve always been drawn to capturing nature and heritage. However, during the pandemic, I discovered my passion for food photography while helping my wife with her food handle. Over the past three years, I’ve honed my style, blending vintage and rustic elements to evoke nostalgia and tell stories through my frames.

I craft setups that transport viewers to cherished moments, using props that add depth and narrative. My goal is to create timeless images that invite people to relive fond memories with loved ones. I'm excited to continue exploring the art of storytelling through photography, connecting with like-minded individuals who share my passion for capturing life's precious moments."

I encourage you to take a few minutes to peruse Basil's lovely work. And you may just recognize some of our surfaces in there! Specifically, our Sophia, Tallulah, Zealand, Opal and Greta backdrops.

I LOVE how he uses the surfaces as walls in the background of so many of his shots (I'm still trying to figure out how he "hung" photos on our Zealand background in the chess image below) and how he creates the illusion of warm, summer light streaming through a window with his Speedlight.

Truly inspiring.
