This course is for the person with a vision in their head…and a camera full of "almosts."
You know what you're meant to create.
You saw it in your mind....the light, the gorgeous styling, the compelling story.
But somehow the shot didn't land. Or the color fell flat. Or the styling felt weird and awkward and suddenly you're holding a spatula wondering if you're even good at this.
The Art of Food Photography is your bridge from "almost" to nailed it.
A self-paced, jam-packed, absolutely no bullsh*t online class that teaches you how to:
✔️ Shape natural light-- even if you've got one window and a prayer.
✔️ Translate your vision into real images that actually reflect YOUR voice
✔️ Use color, props and styling to tell layered, editorial-level stories
✔️ Curate a portfolio of images that gets your hired-- even if you're just starting
✔️ Trust yourself in your creative process
✔️ And yep....become the person who casually drops stunning shots and leaves people asking "HOW the hell did you do that?!"
"Having Clare as a photography teacher is a gift. She doesn't attempt to push her own unique aesthetic on you, but guides you (and sometimes, adeptly shoves you when you need it) to become the photographer you want to be."

"Since working with Clare, my photography has improved exponentially, and my business has benefited as well. She meets students at their skill level to make equipment, lighting, and composition easier to understand. I learned more about my camera in one session with Clare than I had in years trying to figure it out on my own! I really appreciate Clare’s warm, light-hearted, and nurturing teaching style, qualities I found were sorely missing in other teachers. She celebrates my progress while also showing me how my work can improve even more. I highly recommend Clare for anyone who wants to learn photography from a talented and caring teacher.”

"The difference in my imagery is undeniable: I’ve gone from arranging general “food scenes” to sculpting mood and texture with deliberate, confident choices. Clare’s guidance and feedback have been pivotal in defining my style."
here's some of what we cover
✔️ How to bend your camera to your will... and not the other way around
Stop letting your camera call the shots. I’ll walk you through exactly how to take full control — so you can make intentional creative decisions instead of crossing your fingers and hoping for a happy accident. You’ll learn how to work in manual without wanting to throw your camera out the window, and you’ll finally feel like the boss of your own images.
✔️ Seeing and shaping natural light
Natural light isn’t just “bright” or “dark” — it’s a tool you can sculpt. You’ll learn how to read the light you have, shape it to your advantage, and create entirely different moods and vibes depending on your choices. Whether you’ve got one tiny window or a room full of light, you’ll know exactly how to make it work for your story.
✔️ Story-driven composition and styling
Every photo tells a story — the question is, are you telling yours on purpose? We’ll dive into how to compose and style your scenes so they feel alive, intentional, and unforgettable. I’ll teach you the foundational “rules” of composition… and then I’ll give you full permission (and the confidence) to break them when it makes your work stronger.
✔️ Working with color for maximum impact
Color is one of the most powerful tools in your creative toolbox — and I’ll show you how to wield it like a pro. We’ll explore how to choose color palettes that set a mood, create visual harmony, and tell a story all on their own. You’ll see how color can pull your viewer in, guide their eye, and make your work instantly recognizable.
FAQ
What makes this class different from others out there?
Honestly? Me. I don’t read manuals, I never have. I don’t believe in loading you down with technical jargon that you’ll forget the second you close your laptop. I teach based upon decades of experience as a working food photographer, artist, and educator — combining intuition, artistry, and practical tools you can use. Immediately.
My goal isn’t to overwhelm you with information, it’s to fill you with inspiration and give you the authority and permission to create photos that finally feel like you. Now.
Do I need to be an experienced photographer to take this class?
Nope. I’ve designed this class for all levels. At every in-person workshop I’ve ever run, I’ve had total beginners who barely knew their camera outside of auto mode — sitting next to pro photographers from other genres who wanted to explore food. Everyone walks away with breakthroughs because I teach the fundamentals and the artistry, then give you the space to make it your own.
What gear do I need?
The two essentials are a DSLR or mirrorless camera and a tripod. Could you use your phone? Sure. But you won’t get nearly as much out of the class, because so much of what I teach is about taking control of your settings and making intentional creative choices. This is where the real magic (and growth) happens — and a camera gives you the freedom to push yourself in ways a phone just can’t.
Will I learn camera basics too?
Yes. If you’re newer, I’ll walk you through how to actually use your camera with confidence. You’ll get exactly what you need to take control of your settings, so you can start creating with intention instead of luck.
Will this class cover post-production and editing?
We’ll touch on it, but here’s the truth: my goal is to teach you how to get things right in camera. I’ll show you my own simple editing process (mostly light tweaks to polish the image), but I don’t spend much time there because I want you to learn the fundamentals that make editing almost effortless. The better you understand light, composition, and storytelling, the less you’ll need to “fix” later. If you’re looking for a heavy-duty deep dive into Photoshop or Lightroom magic, this isn’t the class for you.
What if I’m not sure I’m “creative enough”?
Then you’re exactly who I want in this class. So many adults lose their confidence to try because they’re scared to look bad at something. My job is to re-empower you to trust your instincts, experiment, and rediscover that creative spark. You don’t need to be “born creative” — you just need to be willing to try.
How long do I have access?
You’ll have lifetime access to the course materials — the videos, the downloads, the resources, all of it. The 3-month membership to The Collective (community, feedback, mini-classes, direct access to me) is included with your class purchase. After that, if you love it, you’ll have the option to keep subscribing.
Is there a payment plan?
Yep. At checkout you can choose to pay in full, or split your tuition into 4 interest-free installments with Shop Pay.
Why do I need a class when there’s so much free content on YouTube?
YouTube is great for tips and tricks, but it’s also a rabbit hole — overwhelming, contradictory, and not built with your growth in mind. This class gives you a clear, structured path, with all the B.S. cut out, taught by someone who actually does this work professionally. Instead of piecing together random tutorials, you’ll learn the fundamentals and the creative process that builds upon each other module by module — and you’ll have me guiding you through it (plus real feedback inside The Collective).
Think of it like the difference between Googling “workout videos” and hiring a coach who knows your goals and gets you results faster.
What if I can’t afford the investment right now?
I get it. That’s why I offer a 4-payment plan through Shop Pay. And honestly, this class is designed to save you years of trial-and-error and rabbit-hole tutorials. If you’re serious about improving your photography — whether for your business, your portfolio, or just for joy — this is an investment in skipping the frustration and getting results faster.
