Rigid Original No. 6

$550.00

DOUBLE SIDED, 46.75" x 32" BOARD • LAYERED PINKS • LAYERED DEEP BLUE

Introducing our Rigid Original Boards — one-of-a-kind, hand-painted surfaces crafted by artist Joe Barboza in our Vermont studio. Each board is a true original: double-sided, never reproduced, and made for photographers who want depth, texture, and authenticity in their scenes.

Every surface begins with a sturdy ½-inch plywood panel, chosen for stability without excessive weight. At 13.75 lbs, these boards are substantial enough to stay put during a shoot, yet still easy to carry, move, and store.

Joe hand-paints each side using acrylic paints, building up layers of tone, texture, and nuance before sealing the finished board with a matte varnish.

Dimensions:

  • Height: 46.75"

  • Width: 32"

  • Thickness: ½"

  • Weight: 13.75 lbs

Each board features two fully unique surfaces — offering two distinct looks in a single piece.

Because these are true originals, no two boards will ever be the same, and once a number is sold, it’s gone forever.

FAQ

How much is shipping?

Shipping within the contiguous USA is a flat fee of $50.

Are these food safe?

No. Our rigid boards are not food safe and are not intended to be eaten off of or used as serving surfaces. Each piece has been sealed with a matte varnish to protect the artwork and create a beautiful, photographable finish—but please keep in mind these are art surfaces, not dishware.

How durable are they?

Each surface is hand-painted and sealed with care. While the matte varnish provides some protection, these are artisan-made pieces and should be treated gently—no scrubbing, harsh chemicals, or extended moisture exposure. Think of them as fine art for your photography studio: made to be used, but handled with love.

Will this look exactly like what I see online?

We do our best to photograph and represent every surface as accurately as possible, but colors and tones can vary slightly due to lighting conditions and individual screen settings. Each board has depth, texture, and nuance that may look a bit different in person—that’s part of their charm and individuality.

What is your return policy?

We accept returns within 15 days of delivery on undamaged boards.

The customer is responsible for all return shipping costs and for packaging the surface securely to avoid damage in transit.

If the board arrives to you damaged, we’ll need clear photos of the damage and the packaging so we can file a claim and make it right.

Once we receive the returned board in its original condition, we’ll issue a refund or a credit.

Can you recreate a surface that sold out?

No. While we may offer boards that have a similar palette or vibe to one we've sold in the past, each board is a true original—once it’s sold, it’s gone for good. Joe creates a new batch of designs for each release, so while future boards may share a similar color story or mood, no two will ever be the same.

Do you ship these internationally?

Our rollable vinyl backdrops ship worldwide, but the Rigid Originals are currently available only within the contiguous United States due to their size, weight, and shipping costs.

How long will my order take to arrive?

Rigid Originals will take 5–7 business days to arrive once they leave our studio. We ship via UPS or FedEx and you’ll receive tracking information as soon as your order is on its way. Please allow a few days for processing time after you place your order.

How do I care for my board?

Wipe gently with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth if needed. Avoid soaking, scrubbing, or placing sharp objects directly on the painted surface. Always store flat or upright in a cool, dry place when not in use.

Anything else I should know?

These boards are made one at a time, by hand, in our Vermont studio. Small variations, visible brushstrokes, and natural imperfections are part of their story—and what make them true originals.
