There are numerous awesome online photography classes out there, (we've taught a few ourselves!) and while those are GREAT resources, nothing beats learning in person. There is no replacement for collaboration and connection between students, getting immediate feedback from your instructor and fellow workshop participants and receiving hands on help with YOUR particular challenges. And, as an instructor, there is nothing that beats the moment when your students look at their work with pride and feel empowered in their own creativity. It is the BEST THING EVER.

FAQS:

Q: WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

A: Small business owners who are doing all (or most) of their own photography-- this class was made for YOU. This workshop is also great for food bloggers who want to take their photography to the next level or even established photographers who are looking for help with their styling.
ALL SKILL LEVELS WELCOME.

Q: WHAT TOPICS WILL BE COVERED?

A: In this 3-day, in person workshop, we will talk about utilizing natural light (because everyone has access to a window somewhere), composition, prop styling, creating dynamic flat lays, telling a story with your images, finding your own style and SO MUCH MORE.
There will be both group discussion and time for one-on-one help but, mostly, you will be spending the majority of your time taking photos and Clare will be there to assist you whenever you need it. The goal of this workshop is to increase your ability and confidence with your own work.

Q: WHAT WILL I NEED TO BRING?

A: A DSLR, a tripod and a laptop or tablet where you can download your images.

Q: HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

A: $800. Don't forget, we offer interest-free payment plans on our website!

Q: WHAT IS INCLUDED?

•3 days of instruction at Clare's Vermont photo studio, (which means access to all her PROPS!! Yesssssss....)

•1 2' x 3' surface of your choice to keep! You will, of course, have access to a ton of surfaces during the workshop but you also get to take one home with you

•Lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday

•PDFs of the lessons covered in class

•A group critique on the last day of workshop

Q: WHO IS TEACHING THIS?

A:
That would be ME. 😊 Here is where I talk about myself in the third person...

Clare Barboza is the co-owner and co-founder of Poppy Bee Surfaces and a professional food photographer. She has shot close to 3 dozen cookbooks and has worked with food brands all over the country, including Vital Farms, Chemex, Effie's Homemade, Pete & Gerry's, AquaStar, Califlour Foods, Grafton Cheese, Maplebrook Farms, Franz Bread, Real Pickles and more.

Clare has been teaching photography workshops for the past 12 years and considers it one of the very best parts of her job.

Q: BUT....WHAT ABOUT COVID????

A:
Consistently, throughout the pandemic, Vermont has maintained one of the lowest case rates in the country with some of the highest vaccination rates. Joe and I have followed and will continue to follow the state guidelines when it has come to masking and social distancing. At this time, there is no mask mandate and, if things stay that way, masks will be optional during the workshop. There will also be zero judgement if you DO decide to mask.
We plan to keep an open and honest dialogue about safety measures should the conditions change.

Q: WHERE, EXACTLY, IS BRATTLEBORO, VT?

A:
Brattleboro is located in southeast Vermont, just north of the Massachusetts border and just west of the New Hampshire border. It is a 2 hour drive from Boston and a 3.5 hour drive from NYC.

The closest airport to Brattleboro is BDL in Hartford, CT. It's about 1 hour and 15 minutes away from Brattleboro and a very easy drive.

Q: ARE ACCOMMODATIONS INCLUDED?

A:
No. However, there are a number of hotels in the area as well as a good number of
Airbnb options.

Q: IS THE WORKSHOP REFUNDABLE?

A:
Workshop spaces are non-refundable unless we are able to fill your spot.
